Table 3 CIRT inclusion and exclusion criteria

From: Radiotherapy & total neoadjuvant therapy for recurrent rectal cancer in previously irradiated patients, (RETRY): a multicenter prospective observational study

Inclusion criteria

Distance between GTV and bowel loops ≥ 10 mm based on radiological imaging

In case of distance < 10 mm possibility of surgical positioning of not absorbable spacer between tumour and bowel loops

Exclusion criteria

Bladder infiltration

Vascular infiltration

Presence of absorbable spacer (i.e., vycril)

Distance between GTV and bowel loops < 10 mm based on radiological imaging

 

Psychological, familial, sociological or geographical condition potentially hampering compliance with the treatment proposed

 

Specific patient refusal for CIRT
